A Delightful Experience--First time visiting the Clements Centre for Families

Updated: Dec 27, 2022

On November 9th, 2022, I had the chance to go to the Clements Centre located in Duncan for the first time. Before the meeting, I contacted the Clements Centre through email and delivered my thoughts on making a small donation along with discussing possible connection plans.

During the summer before my grade 11 year, I have been researching different organizations for people who have diverse abilities around my community. After having some guidance from teachers and some research online, I have discovered the Clement Centre, where they have different programs within the centre. In my heart, I had the will to help more people with diverse abilities and I wanted others to feel more connected to this group of people. We are all different but we are all equal. Having that thought in mind, I spoke to some amazing people in the Clements Centre and ask if there would be any chance to build a connection between Shawnigan Lake School students and the Clements Centre.

My goal is to bring our friends from the Clements Centre to our campus and spend time with the students every one or two weeks. At the same time, Shawnigan Lake school students can go to the Clements Centre and help volunteer.

The first meeting made me feel very welcomed and loved. Everyone in the center was so positive and happy and I felt so inspired by every individual. The moment when I met the people, I felt like everything I have been doing is so worth it. I am looking forward to the next meeting!
